In fact, stress and uncertainty were actually two of the factors that led Shawn to a career in real estate. When he set out to buy his first home, he couldn’t find any agents to help him, because he says the price point was so low that there was little incentive for agents to go that extra mile.

After being forced to represent himself in that first purchase he decided to become licensed, so he could help others in the same position. Today those first time buyers, no other agents wanted, are his clients, friends and his advocates. Over the years he’s assisted with the sale of many of those first homes and with the purchase of move-up homes – often more than once. And of course, he still enjoys helping first time buyers accomplish their dreams of home ownership.

Shawn attributes his clients loyalty to his negotiation skills, frequent communication and extensive knowledge of the Portland area market. They also appreciate his problem-solving abilities and technological savvy, as well as his written Satisfaction Guarantee Agreement. He’s served as a Director of the Board of the Greater Portland Board of Realtors since 2006 and served as its President in 2011. He consistently chairs a number of Board committees and participates in many others.

He’s also a leader in several Fraternal and beneficent organizations such as the Freemasons, and offers his service in support of their many charities. A member of the Stroudwater Christian Church, he’s lead guitarist in their Worship team and also volunteers and serves on the Board of the Westcustago Youth Chorale. Always concerned for the welfare of those less fortunate, he lends financial support to “Samaritan’s Purse” and the “Raising the Children of God” foundation.

Due to his commitment to both clients and community, Shawn received the Realtor Spirit award in 2014, 2015 REALTOR® of the Year award for the Greater Portland Board of Realtors, and was nominated for the 2015 REALTOR® of the Year award for the State of Maine.

Extensive Internet Exposure 
I have invested heavily in the Internet to market my listings. This marketing generates substantial traffic and e-mail inquiries, and is my third largest source of sales. All listings have a virtual tour, interior pictures and descriptive captions.

Virtual Tours
All of my listings have Virtual Tours and are posted to Yahoo Real Estate, Craigslist, MSN, and over twenty other popular search engines and our own web site. Virtual tours consist of both still photos and panoramic “tours”, and will include pictures of every photogenic room in your home, the exterior, any view, the street scene, and the neighborhood attractions (parks, restaurants, shopping). I can post up to unlimited photos on each tour!

Creative Solutions/Objective Opinions 
As I get to know your home better, and the feedback starts coming in, I may find that the market is objecting to something that neither of us thought of. Or, I may discover special features in your home that should be showcased differently. Either way, I take great pride in my creative solutions – this is, making adjustments as we go along in response to market feedback and conditions. If I see something that needs to be changed, I will tell you – whether or not I think it’s something that you want to hear. Many agents seem to assume that their clients are not open to suggestions, and I work on the assumption that that’s part of what you’re paying me for!!

Latest Technology
I am up to date on the latest real estate technology. I have a professional quality digital camera with a wide angle lens, so that the photos of your home will be sharp and attractive. I have a high quality laser printer that produces amazing graphics and pictures for your home brochures. I make extensive use of e-mail, and I update my web sites several times a week.
