
Beautiful Cape Elizabeth extends 12 miles to the open ocean and is rimmed with sandy beaches and ragged shores lining the Casco Bay. The overall area is roughly 15 square miles. A 2000 census figure puts the population just over 9000. Cape Elizabeth continues to draw visitors because of its preserved rural feel and its limited commercial development. Most of the commercial business lies along the shores. Gardeners will also enjoying the longest growing season in the state. The town does not have a large growth rate but may have a large housing turnover in the next ten years due to an elderly population of 16% being 65 years and older.
